When St. Mary’s County Regional Airport opened, it had only 10 aircraft, no buildings, and a 3,200-foot runway. With the extension scheduled to be completed in 2020, the runway length will stretch to 5,275 ft. allowing usage by larger and more diverse aircraft. Through a combination of public and private investment, the airport will also be home to:

• 8 Office/R&D Buildings 75,680 sq-ft

• 4 Production facilities totaling 50,000 sq-ft

• 10 Commercial hangars totaling 72,000 sq-ft

• Maryland State Police Trooper 7

• Fuel / 100LL / Jet A 

As the only regional airport in the tri-county area, St. Mary’s County Regional Airport is a growing provider of employment and job training. Centrally located within the county, but with minimal negative environmental impact to its neighbors. Able to serve local businesses and base contractors by charter or company-owned planes and provide for emergency relief after natural or man-made disasters. It is a hub of advanced technology development that can catapult St. Mary’s County to the forefront of aviation, including UAV research and development.
